The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that the Soweto Derby scheduled for this weekend will not go ahead.
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were due to meet in the season’s showpiece match, but the untimely death of Bucs goalie Senzo Meyiwa has put all that on the backburner.
At a joint press conference attended by Dr Irvin Khoza, Kaizer Motaung and Shakes Mashaba amongst others, PSL ECO Brand de Villiers accepted the two clubs’ request to postpone the match.
“Out of respect for Senzo, the Derby match will not take place this weekend. We will communicate the logistics in due time,” he said.
