The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cast doubt on the integrity of the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, regarding his ability to tackle corruption if elected as President in the upcoming December polls.
The NDC alleges that Dr. Bawumia has been embroiled in several corruption scandals, including the PDS scandal, raising concerns about his credibility on anti-corruption efforts.
During a press conference held on Monday, February 19, the National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, emphasized that accountability can only be achieved with the election of John Mahama.
Gyamfi highlighted Mahama's proven track record in combating corruption, presenting him as a trustworthy figure for Ghanaians.
He cautioned that voting for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would perpetuate the corrupt practices observed under the Akufo-Addo administration.
In summary, the NDC accuses Dr. Bawumia of lacking the credibility and commitment needed to address corruption effectively, contrasting him with John Mahama, whom they portray as a reliable and experienced leader in combating the menace.
"Bawumia is the man who continues to lie through his teeth to Ghanaians without any restraint or shame and I can go on and on and. Ladies and gentlemen of the media, the fact is simple. The appearance fee merchant Bawumia cannot be trusted to fight corruption as he is corrupt."
"The only Ghanaians can end the corruption scandals and prosecution of officials of this government including Bawumia himself is for the good people of Ghana to resounding boot the NPP out of office on December 7. "
"In so doing, our surest bet in exacting genuine accountability will be to vote overwhelmingly for John Mahama and the NDC to enable us persue true accountability which has been missing in our national affairs in the last seven years."
