Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has called for the urgent dissolution of the State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA).
He argued that SIGA has become a “wasting enterprise” that merely supervises failing State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) without providing value.
“If you direct all these state-wasting resources to companies that are returning losses, what will SIGA do? SIGA is only there to supervise companies that are not performing well,” he said.
He made this known in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem on Wednesday, following reports that many SOEs are operating at a loss.
The IMANI President therefore expressed frustration with the state’s involvement in these businesses.
“Any time the state is involved, they waste time and resources. We don’t need to waste time; SIGA should be collapsed,” he stressed.
Rather, Mr. Cudjoe suggested a more aggressive approach.
“If I were president, I would sell off all these loss-making companies to the private sector for growth. Collapse SIGA, sell these companies, and then SIGA becomes redundant. We need to focus on productive efforts,” he urged.
