Farmers at Gonasua in the Jaman South District have expressed their appreciation to the government for increasing the producer price of cocoa as well as COCOBOD scholarships for their wards.
They said the government's gesture would encourage them to redouble efforts to produce more of the crop.
Nana Yaw Yeboah, chief of the town and himself a cocoa farmer, said this at the celebration of the annual Munufie (Yam) festival in the area.
The chief urged parents and guardians to complement government interventions and provide the basic needs of their children and wards.
The chief commended the government for the institution of the national health insurance scheme and appealed to his people to embrace the scheme and register to enjoy all the benefits.
