Coca Cola Ghana Limited on Friday presented 500 GH Cedis to Papa Ansah Hammond, a former player of the Gold Coast National team as a show of appreciation for his selfless dedication to the nation.
The company also presented 500 GH cedis worth of Coca Cola products and 300 CAN 2008 tickets to the former players of the national team, the Black Stars.
The awards were presented at the official opening of a viewing court at the Aviation Social Centre in Accra on Saturday to offer football fans that are unable to watch live the CAN 2008 matches at the designated venues the opportunity to do so.
The viewing court, which has three giant screens, was organised by Ghana Experiential Marketing Limited (EXP. Ghana) and sponsored by the Coca Cola Bottling Company, Goldfields Ghana Limited, Onetouch and Super Sports.
Amanakwa Abdul-Aziz, Director of EXP. Ghana said the viewing courts will also provide recreational facilities including games like the ‘goal striker’, five aside football pitch and a lot of food and drinks as additional incentive to watching the matches.
"I therefore entreat soccer funs who cannot make it to the stadium to come here with their family and friends to enjoy themselves," he added.
Goodwill messages were read by representatives of the sponsors who all wished the Black Stars success in the tournament.
Present at the launch were members of the National Supporters Union (NSU) and some former players of the national teams including Asebi Boakye, Mohammed Polo, E. De Graft, Abubakari Gariba, George Alhassan, Karimu Starboy, Douglas Tagoe, Haruna Yussif, Anane Kobo, Dawud Ahmed, Mohammed Choo and Papa Ansah Hammond.
