Liverpool produced a stunning comeback to recover from falling behind in the first minute to reach the semifinals of the Capital One Cup with a 6-1 win at Southampton.
Daniel Sturridge inspired the fight back with a brace, and Origi sealed it with a hat trick.
The home side wasted no time from the kick off and took the lead after just 39 seconds. Ryan Bertrand was the architect, curling in a fine ball from the left flank which was met perfectly by the head of Sadio Mane. Goalkeeper Adam Bogdan had no chance.
Liverpool levelled in the 25th minute as Sturridge marked his first game under Jurgen Klopp with a goal. Joe Allen played a ball through from the right flank, and while Sturridge's first touch was poor the striker recovered to fire past Maarten Stekelenburg from an angle.
And four minutes later the England international had a second. Emre Can played a ball over the top with the outside of his right foot, the Saints defence had fallen asleep and Sturridge strolled through to score again. Stekelenburg was slow off his line and might have done better.
The first half turnaround was complete as the clock struck the 45th minute. A corner was played in from the right and the loose ball fell for Alberto Moreno on the edge of the area. Moreno unleashed a powerful drive which clipped the toe of Origi and beat Stekelenburg. The goalkeeper appealed for offside with the Belgian striker standing in front of him, but replays showed he was not the last man and the first goal of his Liverpool career stood.
Any hope of a comeback from the home side was ended in the 68th minute as Origi grabbed his second, thundering a right-footed shot into the roof of the net from inside the area.
Moreno got another assist three minutes later when he picked out Jordon Ibe on the edge of the box, who controlled the ball on his chest and drilled a low shot into the corner.
Origi completed his hat trick four minutes from time, heading home from close range via a cross from substitute Brad Smith.
