The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has described accusations of economic mismanagement by the ruling party as false and misleading.
According to him, the claims being peddled by the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC), are merely for propaganda purposes and unfounded.
He said the opposition has failed in their constant barrage of the ruling government’s economic policies to proffer better alternative, thus signifying their dearth of ideas on how to appropriately govern the nation.
Richard Ahiagbah said this at a breakfast meeting with media practitioners in the Volta Regional capital, Ho.
“We still do not know the NDC’s development plans for the country if they return to power. The NDC does not even have any development plans for our beloved country as of now. God forbid, if they come to power they will have nothing to offer," he said.
He challenged the NDC to provide evidence to support their claims of economic mismanagement by the ruling party while proffering their own solutions to Ghana’s problems.
According to him, the continuous assault of the government by the opposition is counterproductive particularly now that the country is facing an economic meltdown.
Richard Ahiagbah stressed that the NPP even in opposition was proffering transformational policies such as the Free SHS programme, hence their ability to take over power in 2016.
He noted that the Free SHS which has helped reduce the financial burden on parents will yield the much needed positive impact in some few years through the development of skilled labour for the country.
The Communications Director also urged the media to always exhibit professionalism in their respective fields to make the country a better place.
He said the media should be able to know and make analyses that are in-depth and devoid of their political affiliations.
He urged media practitioners to always focus on positive issues instead of negative reportage which could pose issues when not handled well.
Present at the meeting were the Regional Secretary of the NPP, Pope Yao Yevu and the Regional Communications Director, Perry Kwashie.
