Former Black Stars skipper, C.K. Akunnor has been announced new coach of premiership side Sekondi Eleven wise.
The 34 year old takes over from Edward Galaga and his technical head Nana Agyemang who inspired the team to its first premiership appearance in ten years.
Akunnor will also be assisted by another Black Stars lynchpin Nii Odartey Lamptey.
The two have been tasked to end the season with a top four placement, in a bid to compete in the GHALCA organised Top 4 competition.
Currently the team occupies 4th place with 15 points after 10 matches.
Akunnor told Joy Sports’ Ernest Koranteng his vast experience as a player will be brought to bear at his new position.
He has set himself a personal ambition of being the first black coach to handle top European clubs with a priority of handling the senior national team the Black Stars.
Akunnor will however seek to contain the pressure from the soaring expectations of supporters of the Sekondi based club whose endless demands hounded Coach Galaga from office.
Galaga also complained of unpaid bonuses and lack of support from the management.
The new coach will have enough time to train with his charges as the league takes a break to make way for the CHAN tournament scheduled for Ivory Coast from February 22, 2009.
