City of God Church holds Christmas banquet

The City of God Church opened its doors to community members at its special Christmas Banquet held at the church’s premises at Highways, Ashaley Botwe in Accra on Sunday, 18th December.

The event was attended by some elders of the Ashaley Botwe Traditional Council, church members, and some residents of the community at Highways and Accra in general.

The congregation joined the church choir in making merry and thanking the Lord for His mercies in the passing year. As part of the occasion, the church’s protocol team served drinks, water, ‘small chops’ and lunch packs to all in the spirit of Christmas.

In its second edition, the Christmas Banquet forms part of the church’s commitment to reach out to the community and share the love and care of God in a very practical way as per Luke 14: 23, according to the church. (In the biblical account then, the master told his servants, “Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in so that my house will be full”).

Meanwhile, a member of the Elders of the Traditional Council of Ashaley Botwe, Emmanuel Ashie Niikei has commended the church for its community outreach programme.

“I have to give thanks to God. Our coming here was at the invitation of the Church. I became so happy throughout the programme. It has been fine. This shows that the City of God Church has made the idea of coming together with the Ashaley Botwe Traditional Council (very paramount),” he said.

In a post-event interview with the media, Apostle John Kpikpi said the Christmas Banquet had been a success as the food distribution had exceeded the target of 1,200, while souls had been won for Christ.

He added that the church plans to make the Christmas Banquet a quarterly event.

“We believe that God has given us a pattern now so that every quarter we would do this to the glory of his name: gather people, celebrate His name, people are saved, and people will be turning from their sins and coming to know Jesus Christ.”
