The Koforidua branch of the International Central Gospel Church(ICGC) has organised a second annual Christmas party for the staff and patients of the Koforidua Regional Hospital(KRH) at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
The Pastor in charge of the Eastern and Volta Regions branch of the Church, Pastor Dickson Tuffour Sarpong personally participated in the distribution of packaged food to the patients at the wards and offered prayers for them.
He said it was at Christmas that God demonstrated his love for mankind by sending down his beloved child to save the world from sin.
Pastor Dickson said at Christmas, it was important that the message of peace and love of the birth of Jesus Christ is extended to all hence the party to show love to the sick who should have been in their houses to celebrate Christmas with their love ones.
He announced that the church had decided to organize the party annually not only for the sick but also to say thank you to the staff of the hospital who have sacrifice spending time with their families on Christmas day, to be at work to help save lives.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Acting Medical Director of the KRH, Dr Cardinald Newton said the focus of the hospital next year and beyond is to improve upon care and service delivery.
He said the hospital is currently targeting acquisition of machines that would help in early diagnoses of diseases of patients for early intervention to help eliminate deaths that could be prevented.
Dr Newton said the hospital is also acquiring monitors to enable the nurses at the wards to monitor the health conditions of patients at their wards for the necessary interventions needed for their wellbeing.
