Christian Service University has adopted a new motto, following the grant of a Presidential Charter to become an autonomous institution.
The University is changing its initial motto “To Know Christ Better and Make Him Known” to “Excellence with Integrity”, depicting their commitment to train world-class leaders imbibed with honesty and the zest for distinction.
The private institution also matriculated its first batch of students following their autonomy to also mark its 50th anniversary celebration since its establishment in 1974.
Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Samuel Kofi Afrane, explained the new motto and charged the new entrants to act responsibly in their pursuit for academic success.
“Education goes beyond the acquisition of knowledge. It is about developing character, values, and a sense of purpose. The university urged the students to reflect the values of the university which is integrity and excellence as they set out to achieve their goals,” he said.
Meanwhile, Prof Afrane has cautioned the students against political violence following an incident at the school that saw one of the students sustain injuries.
“You’re advised not to allow yourself to be influenced and swayed by some political actors to embark on unacceptable conducts and behaviour that would disturb the peace of the country. Avoid hooliganism., confrontation with oppositions and ambitious verbal attacks on people who don’t share your political views,” he advised.
Matriculation
The university continues to witness a high growth in its students’ population, admitting over 600 students for the 2024/25 academic year.
About 65% of the newly-admitted students are females, pursuing various programs at the university, with nursing and midwifery students forming a majority of the numbers.
Postgraduate students form 20% of the total number of the new population.
The university is also introducing three new courses for the next academic year; Masters in Digital marketing, Diploma in Business Studies and BSc Cybersecurity
