After 13 weeks of intense competition, Christian Owusu popularly known as Chris, has emerged winner of the 2014 Vodafone Icons Remix Edition reality show.
The talented musician beat off stiff competition from Titi and Alice, who also made it to the Top Three, to win the music reality show, sponsored by telecommunication giant, Vodafone.
Chris thus walked away with the ultimate prize of a brand new Nissan Qashqui, a recording contract with Universal Music label, and a GHc100,000 cash prize.
The finale night kicked off with a steamy performance from two of the reality show’s judges Gina West and rapper M.anifest. The two wowed the audience at the venue with their performance of M.anifest’s hit single ‘Someway Bi’.
Five contestants – Chris, Titi, Cena, Alice and Ratty - made it to finale this year and for the first round, each contestant performed songs from their favourite artistes.
Chris opened the performances. He gave a good performance of Nigerian artist, Flavour’s smash hit ‘Ada’. Backed by good stagecraft and dances, Chris’ performance wowed the audience.
Ratty’s choice of song was a risky one. He performed M.anifest’s No Shortcut to Heaven’. His performance, luckily received praise from M.anifest.
Alice performed Beyonce’s ‘Halo’ while Cina performed ‘Chandelier’ by Sia. Her performance was filled with energy and passion. Titi ended the first round.
Titi, by virtue of being Best Act on the Night, booked a place in the Top Three. Two contestants, Cina and Ratty, were evicted.
Cina’s eviction came as a shock to many, considering the fact that the audience saw her as the best performer on the night.
The final three contestants – Titi, Chris and Alice – took turns to perform their original compositions. Chris’ performance stood out of the rest; he got the crowd at the finale dancing to his song.
After that final performance, Chris was adjudged the winner of this year’s reality show. Titi and Alice emerged first runner-up and second runner-up respectively.
