Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton says he was not surprised with the level at which Hafiz Konkoni trained with the team on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the game against Madagascar.
The Bechem United forward is the only Ghana Premier League player called up to the squad ahead of the 23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The forward joined the team training session on Tuesday after being made to train alone on the opening day of camp due to his involvement in the game against Aduana Stars on the final day of Ghana's top flight.
Speaking to the media, Hughton was quizzed about his assessment of Hafiz so far in training and revealed he already watched him in the Premier League.
“I was fortunate to watch him live last weekend. I have been able to watch him on video. I thought he did well today [in training]," the 64-year-old told the media.
“It wasn't a surprise because he is a player I have enjoyed watching.”
The gaffer added that the 23-year-old despite being good will only get better with time.
He is a young player, so I think he has a lot of development still. Speaking to him, I think he is quite a mature player for his age," he noted.
Hafiz was a late call-up into the national team and will be looking forward to enjoying minutes when Ghana play on Sunday, June 18.
