The chiefs and elders at Edina Essaman are battling a self-acclaimed pastor over the custody of a 25 year old lady.
Aba Afram is said to have been confined in the pastor’s room for over two years now and shouts for help each night.
The chiefs are accusing the pastor Kow Awotwe of kidnapping the lady under the pretext of leading the woman to God.
Joy News’ Richard Kwadwo Nyarko visited the community and reported that the elders and chiefs are very bitter about the situation and have sworn to get their relative back.
According to reports, Aba is not allowed to go out of the room and she even takes her bath in a big bowl in the room.
Senior linguist of the Edina Essaman traditional area, Nana Andoh Mensah, told Joy News “they don’t allow her to come out. They have camped her in the room and bathing, eating, everything they do for the child.”
An invitation to the chief’s palace did not yield any results as the pastor remained adamant resolving not to release the lady.
The pastor claims the 25-year-old lady is being used by the Lord insisting the family has no right over the child as the Lord only use them as a vessel to bring the child to the world.
Nana Andoh has described the pastor’s behavior and comments as "sheer stupidity" and will employ all legitimate means to get back the lady as her rights are being trampled upon.
