Nana Achia Kessie V, chief of oil rich Cape Three Points has denied media reports that he sold acres of land to prospective investors who are bent on taking advantage of the oil find in the region. He described those reports as blatant lies. He has however confirmed that companies, and individuals have approached him and his elders for the land, but a single plot has not been sold or leased. He also mentioned one Mr. Blay, a private developer who he said had agreed to reconstruct the access road linking Cape Three Points to Princess Town in exchange for some piece of land but he insisted that he was waiting until government’s plan to resettle the township is completed Speaking to Joy correspondent Kwaku Owusu Peprah in the Western Region, Nana Achia V said he only wrote the names and size of the land the investor intended to buy, and made it clear to them that until refinery of the oil begun in the area he was not going to let go any piece of land. According to the correspondent the list showed him by Nana Achia V included oil companies, real estate developers, telecommunication companies and hospitality firms. The least offer made to buy the land was 20 acres, the report confirmed. The land, Nana Achia V insisted could be their only stake in this oil boom and was not going to sell them for pittance. The youth in the community have confirmed the Chief’s position. Author: Nathan Gadugah
