In commemoration of his 70th birthday, the Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre (Dr) Oti Boateng, presented biscuits, drinks and sweets valued at GH¢250 to the children’s ward of the Regional Hospital at Koforidua, at a short ceremony on Sunday.
He also presented a cheque of GH¢500 to the ward, which was received by Ms Mary Attipoe, Principal Nursing Officer in-charge.
Daasebre Oti Boateng urged parents to ensure that they register, alongside their children, with the National Health Insurance Scheme to access good healthcare.
He called for the promulgation of laws that would stop people from burning their refuse at homes, and advised that they lead healthy lifestyles to prolong their lives.
Daasebre Oti Boateng called on the management of the hospital to acquire land for the construction of a befitting Regional Hospital for the Eastern Region, so that the current hospital is converted into a district hospital for the New Juaben Municipality.
Dr Appiah Kusi, Deputy Director of the Hospital, thanked the Omanhene for the visit and the gift and assured that the money would be used to promote the health of sick children.
