Nana Boamah Kwabi IV, Omanhene of Beposo traditional area has expressed concern about the downward trend of education in the town and blamed the teachers, parents and pupils for the problem.
The Omanhene said this at Beposo in the newly created Sekyere Central District in the Ashanti Region on Easter-Monday, when the chiefs and people met to deliberate on a five-year development plan for the town.
He said the results of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in all the four junior high schools in the town had not been impressive for the past four years.
The Omanhene called on the parents to ensure that their children took advantage of the extension of electricity to the schools to attend evening classes instead of attending video shows and roaming about in the streets.
For the five-year development plan, the people selected a five-member committee, chaired by Alhaji Alhassan Barye to build a community library, open a Senior High School, construct a community centre and identify income-generated activities that will create employment for the youth in the town.
Mr. Osei Prempeh, Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo constituency and Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General said, parliament has approved eighty five million dollars for payment to contractors and assured the people that the contractors would soon resume work on the roads.
The MP said the rehabilitation of pipe-lines at Nsuta and Beposo had been awarded to a contractor, and that by the close of the year, the perennial water problem in the area would be over.
