Nana Kwabena Ohene Tetteh, chief of Sessiman in Nkoranza has urged his people against allowing partisan politics to divide their ranks to the detriment of the development of the area.
He was addressing a section of the people at his palace during the celebration of the annual Forkuo Yam festival, held in honour of the fetish called Ntoa of the area.
Nana Ohene, who is the Nifahene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, stressed that their ancestors who established the community lived as one people and that spirit of unity and love needed to be maintained for accelerated development.
The chief expressed concern about the behaviour of some of the youth engaged in party politicking who quarrel and fight amongst themselves, and cautioned them to avoid such attitudes during the electioneering campaign and elections proper, later this year.
He advised the people not to indulge in expensive funerals and also alcoholism and rather use their resources to invest in the education of their children to enable them to occupy responsible positions in future.
Nana Ohene also cautioned the youth against pre-marital sex to avoid contracting HIV-AIDS since they were more vulnerable to the pandemic.
Mr Thomas Owusu-Ansah, Assembly Member, called on the youth to actively participate in communal labour and help initiate development programmes to improve the living conditions of the people.
He noted that erosion was destroying most houses in the community and appealed to the government to come to their aid and also urged non-resident citizens to contribute towards the area’s rapid development.
The Assembly Member paid special tribute to Nana Kwasi Ankomako IV, the fetish priest in charge of the Ntoa shrine for his support to development programmes in the area.
