The Management of Cherryfield Montessori has organised an inter-house competition to help pupils unearth their talents.
The 'Rep Your Jersey' competition which was held amongst the houses - Saphires, Rubies, Diamonds and Emeralds - was also to promote sports disciplines and adopt sportsmanship character.
Sporting activities engaged in by the pupils included thug of peace, sack racing, soccer, oware, ludu, skipping among others.
Speaking at the event on Friday, the School’s Chief Executive, Magdalene Dzifa Adzanu explained that the Rep Your Jersey programme formed part of activities on the School's calendar.
She said, as part of the School’s holistic education programme, pupils are allowed to wear the jersey of any football club that they support and engage in the sporting activities.
“Cherryfield always likes to give her pupils holistic education. Today, we decided to take a break from our academic activity to have fun”, Ms Dzifa Adzanu emphasised.
She also indicated that even though it’s a fun filled sporting activity, the programme helps the pupils in several ways.
“It helps the students to build their confidence level and it helps the students to learn how to accept defeat.
"It helps them to know that it’s not all about winning in any game but you may win and you may lose, that is the beauty of sports. And at the same time it helps them to develop sportsmanship”, the CEO stressed.
She therefore advised parents to encourage their wards to participate in sporting activities.
Cherryfield Montessori School is located at Kwabenya-Pokuase ACP Junction.
