A stupendous left foot strike by skipper Abdul Basit late in the second half ensured defending Glo league champions Berekum Chelsea added yet another trophy- GHALCA Top 8- to the growing list of silverwares.
The goal was the brightest moment in a grande finale that was largely dull, hugely physical and saw a comedy of wasted opportunities by Medeama.
It was the grande finale of the GHALCA Top 8 but the bulky players from both sides played to a nearly empty stadium.
With star player Charles Taylor out on suspension Chelsea looked out of sorts and posed little threat to the Medeama goal area.
Abdul Basit and Gladson Awako showed signs of individual brilliance in midfield for Chelsea but created next to nothing, at least in the first half.
Medeama’s story of wasted opportunities started early in the first half with Hans Cuoffie being the worst culprit and looked more destined to waste than score goals for the entire duration he was in the game.
Cuoffie was played through after a superb run on the left by Tanko Mohammed in the 25th minute but one-touch-too-many, the attacker was dispossessed too easily in what should have being the opener.
Cuoffie however made amends with an immaculate cross three minutes later but the diving header from his name sake Francis Cuoffie went wide.
