Premier League champions Chelsea have confirmed the arrival of defender Antonio Rudiger on a five-year contract.
Rudiger, 24, primarily plays as a centre-back although he can be used at right-back if needed.
He signed for Roma from Stuttgart in 2015 and reports have suggested that Chelsea were keen on signing him then.
They have eventually got their man and the Blues will reportedly pay Roma £34 million for the German.
Rudiger will wear the number two shirt and told the club's website:
"It’s a great feeling because not every player has the opportunity to join a huge club like this.
"I am looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and I’m very proud to officially become a Chelsea player."
The club's technical director Michael Emenalo said:
"We are pleased to be able to bring in a player of proven quality who adds to our defensive options.
"Antonio is still young but is experienced at club and international level and possesses all the requisite attributes to thrive in the Premier League. We have been aware of him for some time and we are confident he will fit in well with the squad."
The Blues, as has become tradition, used a welcome video which this time featured a young fan deciding what name to get on the back of his shirt.
