Chelsea are chasing Serbia's Under-20 World Cup winner Andrija Zivkovic (pronounced An-dri-ya Szhivkovich), according to the player's agent.
Zivkovic, 18, scored in a win over Mexico in the group stage of the tournament in New Zealand, and played provider for Nemanja Maksimovic's winning goal against Brazil in the final. Zivkovic has captained Partizan Belgrade and earned two caps for the senior side.
At the age of 17, he became the youngest player to win a cap for Serbia and also captain his club. "(Our aim) is to analyse all the options we have, and decide calmly," said Djordjevic in Ojogo. "Valencia and Chelsea are two of the clubs who are interested in Zivkovic."
Another media report today claims Benfica have offered the player a five-year contract with terms already agreed.
ANALYSIS
With one year left on his contract, it is unlikely that Zivkovic will sign a new contract to remain with Partizan. Valencia have apparently prioritised the signing of the player.
He would be given more of a chance to progress with the Liga club, but money talks and it is doubtful if Valencia's owner Peter Lim will be able to outmuscle Roman Abramovich if he becomes hellbent on bringing Zivkovic to Stamford Bridge.
Yet Benfica may already have finalised the transfer of the player before he began to impress at the World Cup.
