The Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) recently convened its educational and Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Ho, in the Volta Region.
Themed “Operational Resilience in a Changing Environment: Leveraging People, Process, and Technology,” the event brought together prominent figures from various insurance groups and companies to discuss industry challenges, exchange ideas, and explore new opportunities.
The meeting, marked by rich discussions, focused on how the insurance sector can adapt to rapid technological changes, refine operational processes, and strengthen its workforce to create a resilient industry capable of withstanding future crises.
Members engaged in networking and educational sessions aimed at fostering unity and understanding among Ghana’s insurers.
Speaking to the media, the Chairman of CIIG, Solomon Lartey, highlighted the importance of the AGM's theme.
He explained that building resilience requires a focus on three critical pillars: people, processes, and technology.
Mr Lartey said the idea is to find ways to synergise people and the way things are done and to incorporate technology for greater resilience going forward.
Although we seem to be emerging from a challenging period globally, there’s still a need for companies to build a solid foundation to face similar challenges in the future.
In line with CIIG’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Mr Lartey revealed plans to visit the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) in the Volta Region.
The aim of this outreach is to educate drivers about zebra crossings to enhance pedestrian safety.
Additionally, CIIG will make donations to local schools, where they will also introduce insurance education to foster early awareness of the importance of insurance.
Chairman of the Insurance Awareness Coordinating Group, Wilson Tei, also addressed the attendees. Acknowledging the global economic challenges, Mr Tei emphasised the need for insurers to carefully consider the insights shared during the meeting.
