There is an uneasy tension between officials of Electricity Company Ghana (ECG) and management of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).
The ECG officials were not allowed to leave the premises of AMA after the team disconnected power to the facility.
Meanwhile, the military has arrived at the scene to restore order.
Engaging the two parties, the matter has been resolved.
However, information on the debts owed by AMA for the power disconnection to happen is not yet known as officials are tight-lipped.
ECG has been on a revenue mobilisation drive to recover debts owed to the company for some time.
Several institutions were disconnected as a result of the ECG debt, while others paid the affront debt owed and promised to make the remaining payments later.
They decided to keep the revenue drive running because it was able to recover a significant amount of ¢3.1 billion out of the ¢5.7 billion debts.
The second phase of the drive began on May 29 and will conclude on Friday, June 2.
The massive revenue mobilisation exercise targeted all types of customers in arrears, including State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), and was overseen by special teams that apprehended and prosecuted customers who attempted to evade payment.
ECG recently announced to start of another revenue mobilisation exercise dubbed “Operation zero”.
