The Central Regional Electoral College of the National Association of Local Authorities in Ghana (NALAG) has elected Mr Kwesi Esseku, former Presiding Member of the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly as the Region's representative on NALAG.
Three delegates each from the thirteen administrative districts in the Region including District Chief Executives and Presiding Members attended the regional conference of the NALAG held at Abura-Dunkwa in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District.
The election climaxed the conference which discussed important issues designed to promote and sustain the systematic growth and development of NALAG.
Addressing the conference, Mr Esseku expressed his appreciation to the delegates for the honour done him and promised to work hard to produce results that would enhance the image of the Region and NALAG.
He expressed the hope that all stakeholders in the Region would support his administration during his tenure of office to move the district assembly concept and the decentralization policy forward.
Mr Esseku had earlier enumerated the numerous achievements that NALAG had chalked since its inception, including advocacy, capacity building for district assemblies and the construction of a modern office complex for the Association.
The National President of NALAG, Mr Kyei Baffour, appealed to members of the various district, municipal and metropolitan assemblies to commit themselves to the implementation of programmes, policies and projects designed by their respective assemblies to improve the socio-economic status of their people and the communities they serve.
