The temporary shortage of cement on the market has given rise to rationing for customers by the dealers.
Checks at the central business district of Accra by Joy Business Report reveal, that retailers of cement are not able to meet large orders of customers.
The dealers say depending on their stock, they decide on the quantity to give to each buyer.
And buyers who are not regular customers may not get any at all.
The shortage of the product is due to production cut at GHACEM as a result of the load shedding exercise.
The shortage of cement has come at a time when a lot of construction works are taking place all over the country. And the dealers say the high demand for the product has resulted in a growing black market for cement.
