The University of Ghana School of Law has honoured the Founder of the Centre for Disability Entrepreneurship and Public Policy, Andrew Nii Okaikoi with the inaugural Legends Award for Human Rights and Impactful Leadership.
He was awarded on Wednesday, November 6.
The award recognizes his tireless efforts in fighting discrimination against persons with disabilities through CDEPP, where his visionary leadership works to bridge divides, break barriers, and amplify the voices of marginalised communities.
Andrew Nii Okaikoi’s transformative work has had a profound impact on the lives of many individuals with disabilities, including a 17-year-old boy who had dropped out of school after a fall on the stairs left him with a broken arm.
Thanks to Mr Okaikoi's intervention, the young boy received a scholarship and a wheelchair to support his mobility, enabling him to return to his studies.
Okaikoi’s unwavering dedication inspires change-makers who are advocating for equal opportunities, accessibility, and inclusivity.
His commitment to justice, equality, and empowerment fuels progress, reminding us that equality is a birthright, not a privilege.
Today, Andrew is celebrated not only for his accomplishments but also for his compassion, resilience, and unwavering belief in the potential of every individual. His legacy continues to inspire the celebration of diversity and empowers individuals to thrive.
