Officials of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) are scheduled to arrive in Accra on Saturday, September 15, 2007 on a three-day inspection tour of the venues and facilities being put in place towards the hosting of the 26th MTN Ghana 2008 ACN Football Tournament.
The inspection tour is the eighth official visit as Ghana puts finishing touches to her preparations for the tournament since the nation was given the hosting right of the biennial fiesta.
The visit, according to the Local Organizing Committee’s (LOC) website, www.ghanacan2008.com is expected to centre mainly on the training facilities as well as issues that came up as areas of concern of the CAF officials at the end of their seventh visit in May.
The CAF Inspection Team will be led by Mr. Slim Aloulou, Member of the CAF Executive Committee.
The Inspection Team in May expressed general satisfaction with the progress of work on facilities for the Ghana 2008 African Cup of Nations but had a few reservations about the training pitches.
The areas relating to the live-feed production, training pitches for the tournament, external works at some of the venue stadia and the provision of accommodation for hosting official guests have since been dealt with to an appreciable extent, according to the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Ghana 2008 ACN.
The visit will precede the much awaited Jamboree slated for Thursday, September 20. The competition spans January 20-February 10, 2008.
