After dropping into the CAF Confederation Cup following their mauling at the hands of Wydad Athletic Club, Hearts of Oak have been drawn against JS Saoura from Algeria’s top flight.

The draw which took place in Cairo, saw 32 clubs from across Africa set into four different pots. Hearts were in Pot 3 which was made up of the lowest ranked teams from the CAF Champions League.

Meanwhile, JS Saoura were in pot 2 which consisted of the eight lowest ranked teams from the Confederation Cup.

Hearts will be pursuing the Confederation Cup as a route to bounce back, after falling apart in Morocco.

Communication director of the club, Kwame Opare Addo has asked for the continuous support of the Phobia faithful as they embark on a new journey.

“We have another opportunity to make ourselves very proud and that is the Confederation Cup,” he said in an interview with JoySports.

“We lost in the champions league level but the confederations also presents another opportunity so we must let Hearts of Oak count, we must remain united and let the supporters continue to stand firm behind the team.”

The first leg of the fixture will be played between November 26-28, while the return leg is scheduled for December 3-5.

Just as it happened in their CAF Champions League encounter versus WAC, Hearts will play first at home before visiting Saoura in Algeria. However unlike what happened in Accra last time out, Hearts will be hoping to make their moments count in the first leg.

JS Saoura are yet to win the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1. They finished as runners up in 2016 and 2018, but regularly take part in the Caf Confederation Cup.

They made the CAF Champions League group stage in 2018/2019 alongside Al Ahly, Simba FC and Vita Club.

Established in 2008, Saoura have been regular in CAF competitions since 2017.
