A 24-year-old unemployed man who attempted to steal electrical cable belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana during power outage was electrocuted in the act.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Yakubu.
The District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police Ernest Kuukure Mayeeb, told the Ghana News Agency that the deceased lived with his girl friend at Tarkwa Na Aboso in Tarkwa.
He said May 5, the deceased informed his girl friend that he was attending to nature’s call but he was later found dead at the Seven Day Adventist (SDA) church at Tarkwa Na Aboso with an electrical cable around his left hand.
He said Mohammed took advantage of the power outage at the time to cut the cable at one side but unknown to him there was power at the other end which caused his electrocution.
