Mr Michael Essandoh, Central Regional Coordinating Director on Thursday said the Central Regional Coordinating Council (CRCC) would collaborate with the Judiciary in the implementation of bye-laws on sanitation enacted by the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
He said the measure was to prosecute offenders to serve as a deterrent.
Mr Essandoh announced this at a meeting with the press to outline a comprehensive clean-up exercise in the Region from February 10 to March 12, this year.
He said the various communities would be assisted by personnel from the police, prisons, fire service, identifiable groups and staff of Zoomlion Company, to help ensure maintenance of a clean environment in the Region to curb the outbreak of communicable diseases.
Mr Essandoh appealed to the media to sensitise the public on the need to engage in sound environmental practices and monitor the exercise to succeed.
He said the CRCC was seeking assistance from financial institutions in the Region to ensure success of the exercise and urged other organisations and institutions to support.
Mrs Rhoda Donkor, Central Regional Coordinator of Zoomlion, suggested that people who flouted sanitation laws should be fined and made to sign an undertaking to clean up their communities.
