Bukom Banku fights ex-lover

Sensational boxer and Light heavy-weight champion of Africa, Braimah Kamoko, popularly known as ‘Bukom Banku’, is in a big brawl with his ex-lover over the custody of their three-year-old son, Usmanu Kamoko aka ‘Banku Jnr’. The Bukom-based boxer has warned that the Social Welfare Department and the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Ministries Police Station in Accra should get his ex-lover to return the child to him, else he would go for his son and damn the consequences. While the boxer is claiming he must keep Banku Jnr. because the mother, Irene Nartey, is unemployed and leaves the child to idle around naked and dirty and has also refused to let the him be in school, she also has dragged the boxer to the Social Welfare Department and the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit, claiming she must keep the child because his father has no sleeping place and cannot take care of the boy. The Social Welfare, last Monday, asked the boxer to return the child to the mother after he forcefully took the boy from her. The boxer had gone for the child six weeks ago and sent him to his grandmother who was taking care of him until the Social Welfare asked that Irene takes custody of the boy because he has no proper sleeping place. “If I have no room, where did I sleep with her before she became pregnant? When I asked the WAJU people this question, the man there was making exchange of mouth (sic) with me as if they were there when I was making Irene pregnant. "He should know that one day he would see the darkness over the cloud,” Bukom Banku told DAILY GUIDE in an interview yesterday. The boxer said he has seven children and stays with six of them at Bukom in downtown Accra while Bukom Jnr. stays with Irene at Teshi, another suburb of Accra. “Any time I go to give them money at Teshie, I see my boy, very dirty with no slippers; one day he was even eating goat shit from the ground when he was playing. She cannot take care of the boy so I want to keep him and make him go to school. He would attend Happy Days School at James Town; now school fees and school uniform, everything make ready but the boy is in Teshie eating goat shit and playing with sand and not going to school (sic),” the boxer told DAILY GUIDE in his own unique version of the Queen’s language. He added: “These WAJU people are not lawyers so I want the matter to be sent to court because no man can win a case at WAJU and when we were there, the policeman made one mouth (sic) with my former wife and was saying some sweet things into her ears so I cannot hear but because am a personality, I do not want to fight there (sic).” He alleged that the ex-lover, having realized that she had been given custody of the child, rained insults on him with the support of the Social Welfare officials, but just when he lost his temper and was about to teach them a lesson or two, his friends, whose names he gave as Alogo and Paa Nii Heros, restrained him. Bukom Banku noted that he would send the matter to court because he has the interest of his child at heart. Source: Daily Guide/Ghana
