The Managing Director of Tema Development Company Limited (TDC), has said that the company's contribution to the development of affordable housing for the populace has improved the housing situation in the nation.
She said although some prospective owners complain about the cost, there are payment arrangements that make it possible for average income earners to buy them.
Mrs. Alice Abena Ofori-Atta emphasised that the main objective of the company is to increase affordable housing delivery in the country.
“Our building of affordable houses has yielded positive results since its inception,” she stated.
She made these remarks during a press briefing organised by the Ministry of Information on Sunday, January 15.
The Managing Director cited the Community 22 Affordable Housing Project as one that was quickly sold out after construction.
“I believe we built the Community 22 Affordable Housing Project within eight months in 2020. That indicates that we are very serious about what we do. And it was sold out because the prices were very affordable,” she said.
Ms Ofori-Atta also attributed the company’s ability to construct affordable housing to decades of expertise and experience providing housing.
She noted that her outfit would continue its efforts to ensure that its mission —to create and manage unique and sustainable urban settlements to meet the evolving needs of its customers, is achieved.
The Deputy Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, also urged the populace to patronise the housing facilities built by the TDC.
“Some of their products do not require deposits, and they (the TDC) will also find ways and means to assist you within the legal framework that they have so that you can own a home,” she stated.
