Sunderland manager Steve Bruce believes Asamoah Gyan is ready to start scoring even more regularly after the Ghanaian rescued a point for the Black Cats against Tottenham on Tuesday.
Gyan scored his third goal in two matches to clinch a 1-1 draw in the Premier League.
Rafael van der Vaart had put Spurs ahead three minutes before Gyan struck in the 67th-minute.
“Physically when he [Gyan] came to us he was nowhere near in condition,” Sunderland manager Steve Bruce said. “Thankfully in the last five or six weeks we’ve be able to put a bit of work into him.”
Gyan's fine form has given Bruce much hope as he is relishing Darren Bent's return as he can finally link up with the Ghanaian.
"That's why we were pursuing him [Gyan] as much as we could," he said.
"He might frustrate us with little flicks here, there and everywhere, especially in the last minute, but he's always got a goal in him.
"He's always a threat, as we've seen with Benty, and when we've got the two of them together, they should be a decent partnership."
