Members of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in the Brong Ahafo region are demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of people involved in an attack on its members over the weekend.
The GJA says its members will boycott meetings of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and official functions in the region until their demands are met.
According to Regional Chairman, Ian Motey, the association has presented a list of suspects responsible for the attacks to the regional police command, but no action has thus far been taken.
Six members of the GJA in the region were assaulted over the weekend after they were accused of passing comments which angered supporters of the NDC.
The Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has called for investigations into the matter, and is appealing for calm.
But Mr Motey tells Joy News although it has given the police several leads to arrest persons they suspect of being behind the attacks, the police have turned a deaf ear, adding “and you still find some of those people walking on the street.”
