The Asante Mampong research unit has found cure for liver cirrhosis, using plant extract.
The extract, coded “MJHMC Liver Mixture,” can reverse the hardened liver, reduce and restore the liver to its former functional state.
Mr Jacob Amoah, a pharmacist and head of the research unit, told the GNA in an interview that the mixture was used on a client who had been medically diagnosed as having liver cirrhosis.
The client had a protruding abdomen, dehydrated, could not urinate and had problems breathing, indicating malfunctioning of the liver and the kidney.
Mr Amoah said the client was given MJHMG Liver Mixture with an initial dosage of 15ml three times daily and this was changed to 45ml three times daily after three weeks. He was also put on tabs frusemide 40mg daily to induce uresis.
Following two months of treatment the pedal oedema subsided and the extended abdomen reduced significantly. After months, the kidney function test indicated a return to normalcy and the client did not need medication assistance to urinate.
The liver function test also read normal after six months of treatment and by the eighth month, the client was normal using ultrasound.
Liver cirrhosis is in most cases termed as a terminal condition and is due to the gradual lipidaemid, inflammation and hardening of the liver with the result that there is disruption of the 14 functions of the liver.
