Sherrif 'One Time' Quaye had started well and was cruising smoothly on the cards until he walked into two dazing hooks from his rival Michael 'One Bullet' Ansah in round 5 of a scheduled twelve-round journey.
Of course the main bout on the 14-fight Bill put together by Box Office Promotions and Ace Power Promotions had lived up to its expected entertainment value in the end.
The cost for Quaye, was a failed opportunity to avenge an earlier loss suffered to Ansah as well as the claim of being the best home-based lightweight in Ghana.
Ansah now remains the national lightweight champion of Ghana and has earned a chance to vie for the Commonwealth title.
The enthustic fans as a result invaded the ring after referee Erasmus Owoo signaled the bout to an end after sensing the dazed and wobbly Quaye could be in danger.
The trajectory of the previous four rounds had told a different story and many pro-Sherrif Quaye fans were more than assured of a win via the cards.
Sherrif Quaye started off very well composed with his ring movement and an active left jab which he used effectively to Michael Ansah's body.

The latter landed a few but unable to establish a good jab. Quaye was confident kept Ansah at bay and delivered some good shits mostly inspired by his active left jab.
Realizing he lost out on 'cashing in' for the first round, Michael Ansah started the second with full attack mode but his opponent remained composed.
Quaye kept releasing the left and was successful most of the time as it found its way through Ansah's guard. He also applied good head movements to steer clear of Ansah's potentially destructive overhead right.
As the third resumed Quaye's composure was established. He would punch and swerve to avoid trouble. Ansah tried to chase Quaye around the ring and was clearlyooking for a killer punch but that was not happening.
Michael Ansah gave an idea of what was awaiting the fans in the next round when the fourth began. Clearly working with the direct orders of his trainer Charles Quartey, the champion applied pace a pressure while throwing in all directions. He pinned Quaye to the ropes and landed some good two punch combinations. This time around Quaye had difficulty in sticking to the same technique of swerving and keeping Ansah at bay. It was Ansah's round.
The fifth confirmed that Ansah had found his rhythm and was ready to repeat the dose from the previous meeting.
"I want to fight for the Commonwealth title. It is something the Promoter Alex Ntiamoah has promised me. So it's a forward march for me, " he told the Ring Announcer Nathaniel Attoh after the bout.
He has ruled out a fourth meeting with Quaye, because according to him, the latter has nothing more to offer.
The bill has 13 other supporting bouts and had the likes of Ex Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan, his brother Baffour, former world champions Joseph Agbeko and Emmanuel Tagoe at ring side.
