A Christian charitable organisation on Wednesday donated food supplement drugs worth 11,000 Ghana cedis to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital to be administered on children and pregnant women affected by floods in the Upper East Region.
Bishop David Dankoh, Director of the Africa Assistant Plan (AAP), working in the area of evangelism, health, education and economic empowerment, presented the drugs to the hospital authorities on Wednesday.
He said the gesture was to help boost the nutritional status of the beneficiaries.
Mr. Samuel Akurugu, Project Co-ordinator of AAP, said the organisation had registered about 200 people mostly flood victims to be trained in batik, tie and dye, soap making, pomade making among others.
He said a macro-credit scheme had been established to help empower beneficiaries to enable them to undertake their own businesses.
Mr. Akurugu said "In order to make the programme sustainable, AAP would serve as a focal point to facilitate the selling of the finished products of the beneficiaries and their profits given back to them."
