Officials of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) are expected to appear before a parliamentary committee probing the banking crisis which happened between 2017 and 2019.
This is the second time the officials have been invited for interrogation after the bank turned down the first invitation.
“We were supposed to meet today [Thursday, July 22] and hope that they will appear before the committee,” Chairman Joe Osei Owusu revealed.
According to him, the committee have since the failure of the bank to appear met once.
“We had since had one meeting and written to them that we still want them to appear,” he said.
The bank in response to the first invitation rejected the invitation, describing its work as illegal.
Mr Osei Owusu said, there is no need for speculation as “I will find the facts when the meeting commence.”
The founder of defunct UT Bank, former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), UT Holdings Limited and three others have been charged by the state with 42 counts of offences for their roles leading to the collapse of UT bank in 2017.
