Boateng scores opener in Milan victory over Bologna

Milan opened up a six point lead at the top of Serie A after Kevin-Prince Boateng, Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic fired the Rossoneri to a 3-0 away victory over Bologna. Bologna had conceded just four goals at home in Serie A before the arrival of Massimiliano Allegri’s side but Boateng needed just nine minutes to open the scoring. Robinho and Ibrahimovic sealed a first-rate Milan performance on 35 and 60 minutes respectively before Bologna’s Marco Di Vaio missed a penalty. Bologna went into the game undefeated at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara this season and Gaston Ramirez almost put the hosts ahead after five minutes – but Christian Abbiati tipped the Uruguayan’s 30-yard shot round the post. Milan put their hosts to the sword four minutes later, with Ibrahimovic drifting wide left and lofting in a superb cross which former Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth midfielder Boateng volleyed home on the side-foot. And the Rossoblu found themselves two behind when Boateng slid through Robinho with a perfectly weighted through-ball and the Brazilian outpaced Andrea Esposito before slotting past Emiliano Viviano. The fast-flowing, one-touch move was typical of Milan’s first half display and the visitors were unfortunate not to be further ahead at the break after enjoying 65 per cent of possession. Viviano denied Ibrahimovic with a trailing leg, while Gianluca Zambrotta pounced upon a loose ball after some statuesque Bologna defending before firing against the bar. Bologna boss Alberto Malesani made two changes at the break but Milan soon picked up where they left off and Ibrahimovic fired home his fifth goal in six games on the hour. The Swede beat the offside trap, took the ball down on his chest and slotted past Viviano at the near post to cap a fine attacking performance from the Barcelona loanee. With the game finished as a contest and the points Milan’s, an exhibition match followed for the next 17 minutes until Di Vaio went down in the box under Clarence Seedorf’s challenge. But Abbiati guessed the right way and produced a fine save to deny Di Vaio and ensure Milan left Bologna with a clean sheet. Source: Eurosport
