Major Boakye Djan (rtd), has declared his intention to undertake a “face-to-face” campaign to enable him win the Jaman South seat in the Brong Ahafo region, in this year’s parliamentary election.
In an interview with the GNA in Tema, the member of the erstwhile Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC), also called Osahene Boakye Djan, said he has identified five groups of young people to help in the campaign.
He said strategy would be more effective than holding rallies.
The retired army office, who said he would contest the seat as an independent candidate, added that “I am confident of sweeping 90 percent of the votes cast at all the 104 polling stations in my constituency during the December elections because I am development oriented person capable of opening up my area”.
Osahene Boakye Djan, also National Coordinator of the Campaign for Independent Parliament of Ghana, explained that he would meet the electorate ‘one-to-one’ to disseminate his good intentions for the area, saying his manifesto is convincing enough to win more votes.
The parliamentary aspirant said if elected as Member of Parliament, he would set up agro-industrial estates to assist the people undertake crop and livestock farming and form the “Osahene Community Fund” which would offer free counseling.
Osahene Boakye Djan said “My people know me very well because I was instrumental in the creation of the Jaman South constituency”.
He said he would make inroads into the camps of the two major political parties; the National Democratic Congress and New Patriotic Party.
Osahene Boakye Djan urged his supporters to refrain from abusive language and remain calm even in the face of provocation.
He commended the people of Jaman South for ensuring peace in the ongoing voter registration exercise and urged to report any malpractices to the appropriate authorities.
