The Ex-Director of the Food and Drug Board, Mr. Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko was last Tuesday picked by agents of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) in respect of horrifying revelations emanating from an audit of the books of his tenure by the Auditor-General's report.
According to impeccable sources, Mr. Agyarko who is currently on a ¢2 billion (GH¢2 million) bail was given a caution statement suggesting that he is being processed for court by the bureau.
Mr. Agyarko is said to have given a written statement to the bureau and may soon appear in court and be most probably charged with the crime of causing financial loss to the state or an "even worse offence".
When the Enquirer contacted multiple sources within the bureau, they confirmed that Mr. Agyarko was indeed picked on the basis of revelations from an audit report, but declined to say anything more except that he will be handle through due process.
Even though the Enquirer has not sighted the report, sources who have read the report speak of very serious revelations some bordering on alleged financial improprieties during his term of office.
Even though the final report is being prepared, The Enquirer has been hinted that the initial report contains mind boggling revelations. There is also talk among highly placed sources regarding some alleged hefty withdrawal.
Sources say when Mr. Agyarko was picked up and brought before the BNI. He called Egbert Faibille, Editor of the Observer newspaper and a lawyer at Kulendi@law, who reportedly told him that he was too far to be present whilst Mr. Agyarko wrote his statement.
Mr. Faibille is said to have instructed Mr. Agyarko to go ahead and write his statement.
