A Tarkwa Circuit Court has jailed a 38-year old blind man Kwame Peprah, 10 years for defiling a 13-year old girl.
He was sentenced on his own plea.
Prosecuting, Inspector Florence Tawiah of Tarkwa Police told the court that the complainant Kofi Badu is a farmer living at Nkwanta near Asankragwa with the victim, a class six pupil.
She said for the past one year, unknown to the complainant, Peprah who stays a few metres away from complainant’s village have been inviting the victim to cook food for him and after that, had sexual intercourse with her.
Inspector Tawiah said on June 10, 2008 at about 7.00pm, after the victim had finished cooking for him, he lured her into his room and had sexual intercourse with her, adding, “but this time a witness who went to the house of the accused, saw him having sexual intercourse with the victim and raised the alarm”.
She said the case was reported to Adjakaa Manso police and after his arrest he was handed over to Domestic Violence and Support Unit (DOVSU) at Asankragwa for further action.
During interrogation, the accused admitted having had sexual intercourse with the victim on several occasions.
