Black Stars will do well in my absence -Gyan

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan is confident the team can "do the job" without his contributions.

Gyan is unavailable for Ghana’s AFCON qualifiers against Uganda and Togo this month following his knee injury.

The Al Ain striker has made tremendous progress in the treatment of the injury but does not want to risk.

“I have been out for a month and after speaking to the coach we came to an agreement that having not trained for about three weeks it will be difficult to give my all. You need to be fit and give everything when you show up that is why I have been excused from these games. I am not at that level where I can give everything.

“But as I always do I support the team with everything and I am here to do that. We have got young players and a brilliant team and this is the time they need encouragement.

Gyan reckons the game in Kampala would be tough having played in the difficult 1-1 draw against the same side in Kumasi earlier in the qualifiers.

“Although we are leading the group, this will still be a tough game. Uganda drew here. They will give everything away and that is something we should expect,” Gyan said.

“We have got a lot of players who were there in the team during the World Cup and have been around for long. We have got quality players so we have to support them and make sure they will deliver. Playing away from home will be difficult and I think it will take immense collective effort to win. I am confident we will come out with a positive result,” he added.
