Ghana Football Legend Ibrahim Sunday has attributed the struggles of the Black Stars to lack of planning for the future.
The senior national team's performances have hit a nosedive in recent years, with failing to qualify for 2025 AFCON being a notable disappointment.
The Black Stars played out six matches in the qualifiers and did not record a single win which ultimately saw them finish bottom of Group F as Angola and Sudan secured the top two spots to advance.
“When the team was performing well, we did not look for quality players to replace,” Sunday who featured for Ghana in 1968 and 1970 AFCON competitions told Asempa FM.
“We did not prepare for our future, and that is why we are struggling now.
“As a nation, we act as if we do not care but we need to take action and solve the problem.”
The Ghana FA deliberated on the future of coach Oto Addo who is currently under intense pressure and now seeks government’s input for a final decision.
Up next for the Black Stars are the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar in March 2025.
