Black Stars preach peace ahead of elections

The Black Stars have urged Ghanaians to keep the peace during Saturday's general elections.

In a pre-election video shared on social media, head coach Otto Addo, players Gideon Mensah, Kudus Mohammed, and Manaf Nurudeen encouraged citizens to vote peacefully and respect democracy.

Coach Addo said, "I'm calling out for peace and to vote in peace. No matter the outcome, stay peaceful and protect democracy."

Gideon Mensah added, "Let's remember peace, unity, and values in our country. Exercise patience, peace, and value each other's opinions."

Kudus Mohammed and Manaf Nurudeen also echoed the call for peaceful elections, with Mohammed saying, "We are all one in the country before and after the election," and Nurudeen urging citizens to "vote wisely and peacefully."

Voting started on Monday 2nd December as the Electoral Commission (EC) organized the traditional ''special voting'' for essential, election-related services providers.

Monday's special voting exercise was organized for members of Ghana's security services, journalists, and other media practitioners.

The rest of the country will vote on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
