Ghana's return to this year's African Women’s Championship could be sealed on Sunday in Tamale where the Black Queens face Ethiopia in the return game.
With a 2-0 first leg advantage, the Black Queens find themselves in driving seat to make the final of Africa’s flagship women’s football tournament in Namibia after missing out of the tournament for the first time in 2012 since the inception of the biennial championship in 1998.
Goals from Samira Suleman and Elizabeth Cudjoe handed Ghana all three points in the first leg.
Coach Yussif Basigi's will be drawing lots of positives from their first leg performance in Addis Ababa a fortnight ago as Ghana needs to avoid defeat at the Tamale Stadium to go through.
"We need to approach the game in the same way we did in the first leg. We don't have to let any pressure get to us," Basigi said.
The finalists for the tournament will be revealed this weekend as the curtain on the qualifiers folds up.
"For us, we need a good result and playing home with all the fans, I expect the girls to lift themselves up and get us the much-needed results.
"Our task is to secure qualification and that is what we are focusing on. The tie is not yet over. We have a strong side - Ethiopia - coming to Tamale for challenge for qualification as well."
Victory for Basigi's side will see them join six teams to qualify alongside, hosts Namibia for the2014 African Women’s Championship.
The final tournament which will start from 11-24 October will also serve the continental qualifier for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada next year.
