Black Queens forward Samira Suleman is eyeing a first African Women’s Cup of Nations for Ghana as the team enters the final phase of their preparations for the continental competition.
Ghana have been paired in Group B alongside Nigeria, Mali and Kenya as they seek to better their performance from their last participation in Namibia.
The Queens failed to qualify from the group stage and the importance of winning the tournament for the first time is of paramount importance for the striker.
“Preparations towards the tournament since joining from my base in Iceland has been very good.”
“We shuffle between the Astro Turf in Tema and the facility at GSCE. Personally our inability to play international friendlies ahead of the tournament is my only worry, given that, these friendlies give us more exposure so we can prepare well.”
“We are happy we are in the same group with Nigeria. We know of the rivalry between the two countries and we cannot wait to play the 2014 champions.”
“We are not going to Cameroun to look down on any other team especially in our group and hoping we can win gold again like we did at the all African games.”
The Black Queens will first play against Kenya.
