Accra Hearts of Oak bounced back to winning ways in the betPawa Ghana Premier League over the weekend as they overcame a scare to beat Tamale City at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The Phobians recorded a 3-2 victory on Saturday, January 7, to move to third on the league table after 11 games played. Salifu Ibrahim, Benjamin Yorke and Caleb Amankwah were all on the scoresheet for Hearts.
At the Baba Yara Stadium, Andrews Appau turned up late to secure a point for Asante Kotoko, who were on the verge of losing to Great Olympics.
After a scoreless first half, Olympics took the lead through Abdul Bashiru and looked set to run away with all three points but Appau came off the bench to score in additional time as he salvaged a point for the Porcupine Warriors.
Accra Lions eased past Legon Cities in another exciting fixture over the weekend in Ghana’s top flight. Evans Ampofo, Solomon Oppong and Abdul Majeed Maswud were the goalscorers for Lions while Samuel Armah got Legon Cities’ only goal of the game.
Elswewhere, Bechem United and King Faisal played out a 1-1 stalemate while Nsoatreman recorded a 1-0 victory over Samartex on their return to their home grounds following the defeat to King Faisal last weekend.
There were no goals in the game involving Karela United and Real Tamale United.
Dreams FC were big winners over the weekend as they secured a 4-0 victory over Medeama Sporting Club at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.
The game between Bibiani GoldStars and Aduana Stars is scheduled for Monday, January 9.
Despite playing less games, Aduana still occupy the top spot with 20 points while Kotoko and Hearts are second and third respectively with 19 points from 11 games. Accra Lions are fourth on the league table, also with 19.
