Bernard Mornah has pledged to deliver a "Ghanaian scented" presidency, promising credible and incorruptible leadership after being elected as the People’s National Convention (PNC) presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections.
Speaking to the media at the University for Development Studies Guest House in Accra, Mornah outlined his vision of transforming the country by providing better jobs, education, healthcare, and opportunities for all Ghanaians.
"We are shifting gears from today to make that dream a reality. To those who say we are late in campaigning, the race is not for the swift nor the battle for the strong. The PNC under Bernard Mornah is not here to add to the numbers,” Mornah declared, addressing concerns about the timing of his campaign.
Mornah, who has long been involved in Ghanaian politics for years, positioned his campaign as a fresh alternative to the dominant political parties, the NPP and NDC. "Ghanaians deserve better, credible, incorruptible, and competent leadership…Ghanaians are fed up with the NPP and NDC musical chairs," he said, adding that under his presidency, the PNC would work to improve employment, education, healthcare, and overall opportunities in the country.
In a call for unity, Mornah invited his main opponent in the party’s internal elections, David Apasera, and others to collaborate in preparation for the December 7 general elections. "This victory is just the beginning, as the real work starts now. I urge all party members and those separated from us to join the PNC and Bernard Mornah," he said.
However, David Apasera, who contested Mornah for the PNC ticket, has accused him and the Electoral Commission of conspiring to weaken his chances in the election.
Apasera hinted at the possibility of taking legal action to challenge the results.
